Cards!

Yay! I've actually made some cards lol I never expected the digital scrapbooking blog to take off quite as much as it has, but its taking almost all my spare time. When I read some of the lovely comments I've had on there it is definitely all worth it, but it has meant that cardmaking has had to take a back seat lately - I did make about two thirds of the Christmas cards I sent this year, but they were all very similar and I forgot to scan any! Anyway, I had a few days off after Christmas and had a couple of really good cardmaking sessions - I found it was good coming back to it after a break and discovering things I'd forgotten I'd got! Here goes, this may take a while lol

By the way, I'm hoping in the New Year to be doing lots more papers and bits specifically for cardmaking - I'm not sure at the moment whether to put them on here or elsewhere, but I'll keep you posted - in any event they'll all be "commercial use" so you can use them on cards for sale :-)

A Taste of Spring!

The weather's been so cold here I made this set of papers for The Home of the Elemental Pixie to cheer me up and make me think of Spring! The great flower brushes are from Obsidian Dawn. I thought they'd make good cardmaking papers so I've redone them as A4s - these come as a zip file containing 12 different colour papers.

Well sadly no time for cardmaking for a while - I've had some extra bits to do for work plus the Digital Scrapbooking blog has turned out to be more popular than I expected, so all my spare time has been taken up with that. Well I have to say I haven't been doing a lot of cardmaking lately - the
digital scrapbooking blog has turned out to be more successful that I expected and is taking every spare minute at the moment! Still, I'm enjoying it and trying to build up a little collection of things all ready to blog on there when I'm busy doing other things, such as Christmas cards which I shall have to think about soon!

I'm going to try to do a few papers etc in cardmaking sizes as its ages since I put any freebies on here, so here are three to start off with - I've done them in landscape rather than portrait so you can hopefully get as much out of a sheet as possible.

Well, I've been on holiday for the past fortnight, staying with my Mum and Dad - I did treat myself to a bit of craft stuff so am looking forward to making some cards when I get home in the next day or so :-) I've also taken the opportunity whilst not having much of my stuff with me to do a bit of digital scrapbooking which has had to take a back seat for a while. Here are a couple I've made this week

I've also been trying out the 30 day free trial of Photoshop Elements available on the Adobe site and I love it! I'm definitely going to buy it when the trial is up and I've been having a great time having a go at making my own elements. I've started a separate blog to share some of the things I've made - I'm very much at the beginner stage at the moment but hopefully I will improve and learn! Anyway my "Elemental Pixie" blog can be found

Another leaving card I'm afraid for another lady taking voluntary redundancy. This lady is near retirement age anyway and is going to take a couple of months off before deciding whether to retire completely or look for a part time job. Hopefully this will be the last of the leaving cards for a while!

Unfortunately the economic situation has hit small Solicitors' firms hard and we have had redundancies at work, some compulsory, some voluntary, as well as having several people leaving for other reasons this year and not being replaced - its pretty busy at the moment with less people to do the work and some people off on holiday! This is a leaving card for one of the girls taking voluntary redundancy, we've been teasing her over the last few days about having a change of career and thinking up weird and wonderful jobs for her!

I forgot to add its an A4 card so its big enough for everyone to sign - I enjoyed making this one, my second A4 card was less daunting than the first one I made a couple of weeks ago!

I've had time to do two cards this week, hoping to get another play tonight - Bel is at MILs during the day during the holidays but she tends to take a look at what Nanny is having for dinner and if she likes the look of it asks to stay longer! So whilst I still leave work at 3.00, she's often not home until 6.00 or so. I don't think Nanny minds now she's a bit older and can entertain herself round there - she's looking particularly grown up at the moment after a hair cut yesterday and a new shorter style - it'll be a nice surprise for Granny and Grandad (my Mum and Dad) when we go up there to stay in two week's time, I think they'll be surprised how grown up she looks - she's definitely taller since the last time they saw her as well! Anyway, I nearly forgot the cards - Birthday cards for my Mum and BIL - I'll let you guess which is which lol lol

We had a lovely meal out on Saturday with Del's family, it was a sort of "memorial" for his Nan, but a happy cheerful one which was lovely and great food too. I've never had scallops before but have always been sure that I'd like them - and I do! Whilst we were at our meal the Son of a friend at work was getting married; his Mum asked me to make a couple of thank you cards afterwards, one for the Beach Club where they had their reception, and one for the chap who did a BBQ for them, I'll leave you to decide which is which lol. Excuse my scanning on the second one, I finished them just before leaving for work and had to literally chuck them under the scanner!

Well its official - I've joined the Cuttlebug fan club! Its great, so easy to use and that deep embossing is just great. Anyway, here are my first two efforts, and as you'll see both are stamped - this ex-stamper is fast becoming a stamper again! lol The "sentiments" are embossed onto gold card which didn't scan too well but embossed beautifully.

.... to a Cuttlebug! Woohoo! At the beginning of the week Del told me to order some embossing folders - because a Cuttlebug was on the way - and yesterday when I got home from dancing one neighbour had taken in the parcel containing the Cuttlebug and another had taken in the parcel of embossing folders! I haven't had time to make a card yet but had a little play last night and I love it! Really wish I had a day off work today lol

Things have been a bit busy here at the moment, sadly Del's Nan passed away at the beginning of last week so we have been getting ready for the funeral which is on Thursday (the Funeral Directors were originally suggesting Wednesday which is Bel's Birthday!) and for Bel's party next Sunday.... really hope the weather improves for both of them - its windy and wet here at the moment!)

I have managed to make one card recently, an A4 one for everyone at work to sign for a colleague who is retiring and moving to France. I've not done one that size before and am quite pleased with it

I've got another card to make while Bel is at dancing later - her Birthday card (which I almost forgot in all the excitement of making up party bags etc - whoops!) She loves giraffes and I found this great PSP tube I've made him into a 3d sheet and vellum(first one I've done for ages).

We have our mice! No pics yet I'm afraid - the memory card for the camera is still missing, I haven't dared tell Del yet, just hope I find it in the next day or so.

Well Sunday turned into a bit of a saga! The shop which always has small animals was being refurbished and had no animals at all! We got a cage and all the other necessary things, but no mice! Of course, there were tears.. not over the top spoilt child ones, but a few quiet disappointed ones which was worse We chased all over Eastbourne looking for somewhere else (knowing there was nowhere open in Hastings) without luck, got home, checked the internet and found a place we didn't know about in Eastbourne which was open on a Sunday and when we phoned had mice in stock - so we turned around and went back!

The original intention was to get two lady mice - but we had managed to get a larger cage than we intended for a good price and so we had said she could have three - when we got there, there were four males and two females (brothers and sisters) in the same cage. The man said it was about time to separate them but to be honest I was a bit worried about the females anyway just in case he had left it a bit late to separate them! So we now have all four boys They are brilliant, they are all different colours and have different personalities which we are starting to see already! Bel has named them:-

Michael (albino)

William (Cinnamon and white with pink eyes)

Charlie (Grey with pink eyes)

Ben (Black and white with black eyes)

After three days of having them we are really seeing their personalities! William only stops moving when he's asleep! If there's one that's likely to be going round in the wheel or running round the cage it'll be him - me and Del call him "Bomber" because he's always bombing round the cage at top speed! Michael likes to hide in the plastic tube that runs round the outside of the cage - its a good hiding place because you can't reach him in there but as its clear plastic you get some good views of him. He falls asleep in there sometimes and is soooo sweet! You tend to see less of Charlie and Ben but they are the only two who have let us pick them up so far - Charlie sat for ages in Bel's hands yesterday. We've had to be so careful about holding them over something though so they don't have a free run if they do jump - they're about ten times fast than big old Hammy! Hammy keeps his cage tidier too, its amazing the mess four tiny little mice make compared to one big old hamster!

Here's one for the little Brother of one of Bel's friends - she and the friend usually end up arguing but she gets on very well with the Brother! I'm sure if she had a Brother they'd fight like cat and dog, so borrowing someone else's little Brother for a while every now and then is the perfect solution! Sorry for the wonky scanning - I was going to photograph it, but I appear to have mislaid the memory card for the camera.... whoops! I'd better find it quick as tomorrow is.... MOUSE DAY!

Time for a quick (non-crafting I'm afraid)update! We had a good week, although Saturday was tiring - we spent the day sorting out Bel's room; living in a small flat we all tend to "dump" things out of the way in her room and she is a terrible hoarder of toys and other strange items - if it interests her for five minutes she wants to keep it for the rest of her life! Anyway her birthday is in a couple of weeks time and she'd asked MIL and FIL for a desk for her room which involved some moving round of furniture anyway and she was told that if she had a really good clear out she could have two weeny mouses from me and Del! That has done the trick and we have bags of rubbish to go to the tip, and bags of reasonable toys to go to St.Michaels' Hospice where Del's Nan has been looked after so well to hopefully help with their much needed fundraising. And on Sunday we are off pet shopping! I have to add they will be two lady meeces or two boy meeces (probably the former) rather than one of each!! I'll attempt to get some piccies when they arrive (can you tell I'm looking forward to it too!) ;-)

Well I've been having a good time this week! I spoke to the lady from the PTA who is in charge of organising Bel's School Fair and I'm now having a little stall there, all proceeds are going to the School so its going to be mainly more printable bits like I made the other day which I can sell for "pocket money" prices and which haven't cost me too much to make - and besides that they're really satisfying to make up! I've found several sites which have lovely, inexpensive things to download and which also have an angel policy so that they're fine to use for craft fairs etc. This is my list, I'd love to hear of any more which people may know of!

Well here are the cards I made yesterday, apart from one very small shopping trip I made in the week I haven't bought anything new for a while (just reminded myself I haven't scanned the cards I made a few days ago with the results of the shopping, I'll do that in a mo!) and was feeling rather uninspired so I had a rummage to the bottom of my craft unit and tried to use some items I haven't used for a while - my Ikea bargain papers, alcohol inks and acetate just to mention a few!

Today I decided to make a few bits and pieces for Bel's School Fair in a couple of weeks' time, and following a visit to Cuddly Buddly I had a lovely day making up these

I've used Cuddly Buddly graphics before but not the printable boxes, and I'd definitely recommend them, they're easy to make and fit together beautifully... the only problem I had was deciding which ones to buy! And before I forget here are the cards made with the bits I bought - I have never used the Dufex decoupage before but its very effective - although not see easy to scan or photograph easily!

Toe by Toe

As you may know from previous posts, my Daughter is quite severely Dyslexic – she was tested when she was 6 ½ (apparently the earliest they test for it in our area) and it was confirmed (although we obviously already had our suspicions). Now she is 8 she is quite a way behind most of her classmates but is going through a stage where she is most enthusiastic about learning to read and write properly. When she was first diagnosed we had had the Toe by Toe system recommended to us – we discussed this with the School but they felt she was probably too young for it at the time. Now that she’s a bit older and showing so much enthusiasm we have bought the book and done our first four sessions (usually not long after she wakes up as she starts each day wanting to do her “lesson!”)

If you haven’t heard of it the Toe by Toe website is here for anyone that is interested. It takes things right back to basics and can show dramatic increases in a child’s reading age.

We’re quite hopeful that its really going to help her and hopefully once we’ve done it through the last bit of the Summer term and also through the Summer Holidays that she’ll start Year 5 in September having taken a big step forward!

Apologies for lack of blogging, time just seems to slip away at the moment - I had thought after the Show I'd have more time but it doesn't seem to be working out that way! Anyway, I shall attempt to catch up and then get myself back into blogging (and cardmaking) routine again!

We have really springlike weather here in Hastings today which is great as its Hastings Jack in the green Festival today

Hastings on Bank Holiday Monday is also host to an unofficial but ever-growing motorbike meet - we have had up to 20,000 in previous years, but I reckon this year will have broken all records! They are everywhere, the seafront carpark is full with bikes (its closed to cars today), they are parked on the promenade all the way up to the pier (which is actually in St.Leonards-on-Sea, and on every spare bit of concrete anywhere in Hastings! This was the seafront earlier this morning

We came home before the end but the procession ended up at Hastings Castle where at 3 o'clock Jack will be "slain" to release the spirit of Summer for another year.

One piece of news, Del has at last received his Sleep Apnoea mask - he has had it for a week now and he reckons its making a difference, even though its not easy to get used to! He has to go back on the 19th May and they've told him that provided everything is OK he should get his Bus Licence back almost straight after that!!

Its been a very long wait (he was first referred to the Sleep Clinic in August last year) but it looks like the end is finally in sight!

I just couldn't resist the opportunity of playing with Tilda again (and you might see a bit more of her soon too) I'm determined she will soon have a "friend" but will have to sneak that in when OH isn't looking lol.

It gave me a chance to use my watercolor pencils, and to try the paper piecing technique which I'd not tried before, great fun! Also made two more, the jeans pocket for my FIL and the bear for a 5 year old on the Post Pals site - didn't think I could get away with using Farmer Tilda on "lads'" cards lol

You know I consider myself an "ex" stamper, having sold all of my stamps a while back (although I have been known to have a play with magazine freebies!)? Shell at Stampstash has some Magnolias in, Farmer Tilda, Dala Tilder and Horse amongst others.... and do you know, while I was taking a look, Farmer Tilda climbed into my basket? She has apparently now made her way out of the basket and into the Postal system so I shall be waiting for the Postman!!

(I thought I ought to, I can't afford it at the moment but I'd really like a Cuttlebug, particularly for the embossing - Del is in favour of it but I'm waiting for him to point out I never usually emboss anything anyway!) lol

Wow! Great challenge this week - here it is:-

"Shrink to Fit

I used to be able to make cards with lots of "white space" around the designs, but lately when I've tried to do this my cards just look sooooo naked!

So this week I'd like you to think small - not small cards, but small spaces of embellishment on regular sized cards.

You are allowed to cover no more than a 5x5cms area of your card with paper or embellishment - the rest of the card must be left plain.

How you use those valuable cms is up to you. So you may choose to split up those cms to use around your card, or use them in a block or a line. It might help to cut a few 5x5cm squares then cut those up to work out good ways of using your allotment. Making your whole card a miniscule 5x5cms is NOT an option!! Lets have no cheating (I know what you lot are like.....),
but because I'm feeling generous, I'm going to let you add a SIMPLE greeting as extra to your 5x5 allowance! :-)"

Well its been an odd week as I managed to lose my voice on and off for part of it! Not good.... lol. Anyway, I'm just left with a cough now and feeling OK and attempting to get back to normal, not least on the crafting front and blogging front! What with show week last week as well I've watched the poor blog slide down the "Crafty Blogs" listings.. aw........ :-(

I had yesterday off as holiday and had planned a lovely long cardmaking day - however with not being well I only got two done :-( One was for a sketch challenge for Papertake - however as they put a new challenge up each Monday although I got the card done yesterday (honestly) I didn't get it scanned until today so it looks as if I'm a week late lol. Anyway, here is is. The owl is from Pink Petticoat - they seems to have some lovely (and inexpensive) images coming out on a virtually weekly basis at the moment.

Well its all over for this year! It went really well and was great fun but very tiring which probably explains why I've got a bad throat/cough and am feeling a bit sorry for myself! Anyway here's a couple of photos of me and Bel in our costumes (I did have a multi-coloured wig to go with my clown costume in the second picture but you'll have to just imagine that!

There was a nice surprise at the end on Saturday, their teacher announced that she had had a phone call in the week from the organisers of the Hastings Music Festival and the Mime group had got the highest marks out of all the mime catagories so they had won a trophy! She presented it to them on stage which was lovely :)

Its...... OPENING NIGHT! Dress rehearsal went much better last night so am feeling fairly confident about it. The main difficulty is keeping the girls quiet backstage as its a small theatre... the words "don't forget you've got to keep quiet because you can be heard from the audience" mean nothing to a group of over-excited 8 year olds!

Well our first dress rehearsal was last night, it was fairly chaotic - as well as being in it (two dances and various bits of general milling about on stage!) I'm a registered Chaperone for the children so when I'm not on stage I'm making sure the girls (all aged about 8 or 9) are in the right costumes, ready to go on in the right places etc. Discovered as well that although the stage is OK in tap shoes its very slippery in jazz shoes! We've got another dress rehearsal tonight and then three performances - a couple of friends from work are coming to the one on Friday night and Del and his Parents, my Brother-in-law, and a couple of other friends are coming on Saturday night. I didn't actually think Bel would be there last night, she was ill all over Easter with a nasty virus (amazing to see her Easter eggs virtually untouched until yesterday!). She's still got a cough but was much better by yesterday evening so she was able to be there :)

Hastings Music Festival

Well I'm not getting a lot of crafting done at the moment which is a bit frustrating, but I take the view its not worth knocking yourself out trying to fit in something which is supposed to be fun... I might get a bit done later or if not, over the weekend, but if I don't bear with me, normal service will hopefully be resumed shortly! Anyway, this is a proud mummy post rather than a crafting post so you'll have to indulge me for a bit! We've spent the afternoon at the Hastings Music Festival where the Dance and Drama Studio that Bel (and I) attend was performing in the "Mime telling a story - all ages" catagory. This one was children only (they range from about 7 to 13 or so) and I hadn't even seen it so I wasn't sure what to expect (Bel's never been one of these children who is always showing off bits at home!) They were actually the only entrants in that catagory but that didn't mean an automatic win (a good thing I think), they had to get at least 85 points for a first place. Well we sat in the balcony at the White Rock Theatre (bearing in mind it is considerably bigger than The Stables theatre where we have our show each year) not knowing quite what to expect - then they were announced.... and it was brilliant! It was entitled "Shipwreck" and showed exactly that, a group getting shipwrecked, ending up on an island and finally trying to hail a passing ship and failing.... very dramatic! I've known some of the children in it since they were 4 or so and I have to say they surprised me, they really were impressive and Bel who has struggled at times at dancing because of the concentration problems linked to her dyslexia was as good as any of them :-) They were followed by a School group also doing a mime in the 10-14 years catagory and I have to say I thought they weren't as good. I think you could tell our group were dancers as well as the choreography was excellent.

Then it was time for the Adjudicator to announce the results, she was extremely complimentary about our group and gave them.... 87 points! A first place with honours! She criticised the school group (in the nicest possible way) that some of their movements (pretending to drink etc) weren't clear which is something she had complimented our group on. They got 84, so no first place for them. All in all a very good day :-)

Well its Sunday, I haven't had much to do today apart from a bit of tidying round earlier, I should be crafting but I'm enjoying the rather wicked feeling that I should be doing it, but I'm not! My cold has almost gone, I spent yesterday either shopping (mostly for things needed for the dance show in a fortnight's time and for the mime that Bel and the others in her drama class at the dance school are performing for the Hastings Music Festival on Wednesday) or altering dance costumes (sewing not being something I do regularly it took me about three times as long as it should have done),its dull and rainy outside....... and I have my laptop back! Del talked to a nice man on the Gateway website only to find that the power lead which we'd assumed wasn't covered by the guarantee is! So a new one winged its way from Germany and took just two days to arrive, so I'm happily reunited with a computer which has all my favourites in the right place, my photos and digital scrapbooking bits neatly organised into folders and my Frank Iero wallpaper! lol. You know that little bunny that Bel drew that I used on two cards recently? Well I look much happier than that!!

Del brought home a magazine a couple of days ago that had been left on the bus called "Love it!" (complete with exclamation mark), which looked from the cover like one of those gossipy celeb type things. I went to flick through it today prior to throwing it out and spotted the words on the cover "My 12 year old only weighs two stone".... I wonder, I thought and it was - Kirsty Wiseman and her Daughter! If you haven't read her blog you really must, not only to hear about her Daughter Eleanor and Kirsty's struggle to find a cure (and indeed diagnosis) for Eleanor's condition, and her current fund raising efforts in order to take Ellie to Nevada to see Specialists there, but also just to enjoy Kirsty's wonderful writing style, it really is one of my favourite places on-line. No, not tea bag folding - real tea bags! Here's the Daring Cardmakers' challenge this week

"The dare involves creating a card incorporating a tea bag or coffee satchel - just perfect for days when somebody may need a quiet rest and break."

I thought this was a real fun challenge - and a great excuse to get the Pink Petticoat Lola Rose "You make me feel bubbly" download! For some reason my scanner resolutely refuses to pick up that the doodled border goes all the way round, wherever I place the card, so you'll have to take my word for it that its there at the top!

The best thing is it is a ginger tea bag so the card has a lovely ginger smell!

Mother's Day

Well I had a nice Mother's Day, I had a lovely set of watercolour pencils from Bel which I intend to spend some time playing with this week, and we spent the day at MIL's, all of us popped out in the afternoon to visit Del's Nan who has been moved this week to Hospice - she is in a four bed ward but its so much more comfortable than hospital and they've gone out of their way to make it more homely, tea in china cups, a flower on her meal tray, she was even brought a glass of sherry the other day! The Staff seemed cheerful and kind and much less "rushed" than in Hospital so I think she'll be well looked after and as comfortable as she can possibly be.

For my Mum I made what I referred to as the "secret" last week - a scrapbook from the slides we brought home from them. A word of advice - doing a scrapbook in a week is possible, but it does completely take over your life while you're doing it. Mind you, it was well worth it as she said it was a nicest present she'd ever had. Aw....... Oh, and we came back from Del's Mum and Dad's yesterday - with their slides!!

... this week is 'Things with wings' Think butterflies, birds, insects, angels, fairies - anything you like with wings!! Whilst getting the image for the last card from the Joanna Sheen cd I spotted this... well I guess she's a dragonfly fairy! I apologise that this has lost a bit in the scanning - the dark card round the green border is actually silver and the outlining on the image is with a sparkly Sakura Stardust pen - whereas it just looks like a plain mauve pen in the scan, but it does sparkle really, trust me!

... this week is love and friendship - I've deliberately steered away from Valentines type cards (having done rather a lot of that sort of thing lately!). This one was actually inspired by a little shop I pass on the way home from work which has a lovely white "country cottage" type dresser in the window, which is always covered with pretty things - I've never bought anything in there but it always looks really pleasing! it was Daring Cardmakers which made my try hand doodling in the first place, as you can see I'm now getting more confident with it!

We had a lovely time at Mum and Dad's and have brought back with us an enormous bag of slides. Del knew, but I didn't til about a fortnight ago(!) that our scanner has a special attachment to scan slides so we're putting them all onto disk for them (and keeping a copy for scrapbooking purposes!). There's Mum and Dad's wedding photos, my baby pics and lots of childhood photos up until about 1979 or so, little gems like this one

New bargains on Shell's Stampstash site here! Aw.... love those Easter chicks and bunnies!

Just got a bargain from Ikea too (we're up with Mum and Dad this weekend, don't have an Ikea near us). I got a huge roll of handmade type paper, big sheets of pink patterned, green patterned, blue and silver, gold and purple, and black and white - £2.49! Only trouble is I haven't got any cardmaking stuff up here so I'm going to have to wait til after the weekend to play with it!

50th Birthday card

Bel seems much better today so she's back to School - my MIL picks her up on a Thursday and she has dinner round there which she always enjoys so that's something for her to look forward to. Glad to say I didn't waste my day yesterday - I made some cards for no reason, not for anyone specific's birthday, not for challenges, just because I felt like it! Also as Del was at work it meant it was easier to work off the big computer and have easier access to the printer, so I started by printing off a little batch of bits from CDs/downloaded bits, without any set idea what to do with them so I had plenty to choose from. The vintage bits and the greetings are from Joanna Sheen's Victorian Companion, the other bits are from Cuddly Buddly

Got up early to do the Daring Cardmakers' "extra" challenge - then discovered I'm going to be off today anyway - Bel has woken up with a high temperature and is feeling very sorry for herself :-( We were going up to the hospital to see Del's Nan this evening, but obviously he'll have to go on his own now - just hope she gets over it quickly as we'd planned to go to Mum and Dad's this weekend; we haven't been up there for a while so she was really looking forward to it. Anyway here's my card, the challenge was for a romantic card using both red and black ribbon - I even attempted a weeny bit of dry embossing, not something I'm good at so I usually leave it well alone! I ought to practice really I suppose.... Just edited this to add that the image is from Joanna Sheen's Victorian Companion DVD set.

Might get some more bits done today - I've been so busy doing challenges I've missed the fact a friend's birthday and Mother's Day are fast approaching!

The challenge they have running at the moment is to make a card using a maximum of three colours. Of course every bit of patterned paper I went to use had at least four colours on it lol. Anyway, eventually came up with this one - my colours are obviously pink, green and brown.

Good news!

We have had a bit of good news! I did put some bits on here in the early Autumn about Del's health problems but as the posts have disappeared into the mists of time I'll do a (very quick I promise) summary! Basically at the beginning of the Summer Del was sent to hospital with a suspected heart attack - fortunately after tests etc it was found not to have been, but along the way they discovered he was suffering from Sleep Apnoea... basically he stops breathing for a few seconds several times throughout the night - he's always snored and apparently this can be a symptom. Because this can leave sufferers tired during the day (he has said in the past he sometimes feels as if he hasn't had a good night's sleep) it is reportable to the DVLA and the requirements for his Bus Driver's licence are higher than for a car licence so he is unable to drive a bus. Anyway having had several weeks off sick whilst the possible heart attack was investigated he went back to work in the Autumn on light duties, sitting at bus stops and doing timings for the buses (boring!) and going out with new drivers to help them learn the routes. His employers have been very good over this as they weren't obliged to find him work. The Hospital have been good but the length of time between appointments etc is amazing! He is now waiting to be fitted for a mask which he will wear at night which should sort the problem out.... he has been waiting for the appointment for this since before Christmas! He was worried earlier in the week as his employers had mentioned the length of time it was taking (whilst acknowledging it was not his fault!) so when he was called into the office yesterday he had that sinking feeling! Anyway turned out they had called him in to offer him a Shunter's job, basically checking and getting the buses ready in the morning ready for the Drivers to take out, on the same money as he is getting now. They have told him that if the sleep thing is all sorted out and he gets his PCV licence back he can go back to driving, otherwise the job is permanent! Obviously this is a weight of our minds :-) The only downside is its a 4.30 a.m. start!

Ah well, tomorrow's another day! Mind you I have rather rashly volunteered to help at the School disco tomorrow after School!
